Jimat Development Consultants spearheaded a transformative project across Zimbabwe and Tanzania, dedicated to advancing green innovative solutions within the leather sector. Our mission aimed to foster job creation, mitigate the environmental footprint of leather processing, and establish robust market connections for leather products on local, regional, and international platforms.
This initiative directly impacted a network of stakeholders, including 11 SME tanneries (7 in Zimbabwe and 4 in Tanzania), 30 SME leather product manufacturers (10 in Zimbabwe and 20 in Tanzania), and 15 clusters comprising 250 individual micro-leather enterprises. The project received generous funding from the Solidaridad Network SA Trust, acting on behalf of the Southern African Development Community (SADC).
Guided by the visionary leadership of project managers Gideon Gavera and Nomagugu Ndhlovu, Jimat conducted a comprehensive End-of-Project evaluation from May to August 2024, involving meticulous data collection and insightful report writing in both Tanzania and Zimbabwe. This endeavor underscores our commitment to delivering impactful consultancy services and driving sustainable change within diverse ecosystems.
